The garter toss was really a riot, I laughed so hard. Seeing all those men as their excitement grew when the garter was being removed by the groom. All of them were reaching and pushing into each other with the sole objective of being the one to take home the brides garter. What was really funny was that the winner of the garter toss was talked into participating by the other guys and he was a widower in his 70’s. There was a big smile on the old mans face as he walked off with the garter in his hand.

After the best man said his speech and we toasted the bride and groom, it was time for their first dance together as man and wife. They looked so fantastic up there dancing together. Finally it was time for the bride and groom to depart for their honeymoon, and we all said our good byes. Hawaii was the honeymoon destination, from what I was told by one of the guests. I’m sure their honeymoon will be just as wonderful as their wedding day was. The rest of us partied until we couldn’t party no more.
I received my thank you note for my gift and my presence at the wedding and reception, after only two weeks. She must have sent out her thank you cards as soon as she got back from her honeymoon. The tables at the reception had silvery sparkles and wonderful flower arrangements, and the bride and groom table sat in front of an arrangement of red and white roses with ivy strung along an arch. For the men in attendance, a key chain with a frog prince on it was given to them as a wedding favor. He came home from the party with an inflatable doll and a ball and chain that he said they made him wear the whole time the party was going on. The guys had other funny groom bride gifts they gave him, to ad to the merriment of his bachelor party. My girls night out party was fantastic too and I got a lot of gag gifts, but also quite a few nice bride gifts too. They gave me a shimmering white satin purse with a clasp made of crystal on it and a ribbon on top to boot. Inside the bag they had put little gifts like a manicure set, a girls night out tee shirt, a bride to be brooch and a few little necessities a girl likes to have with her. But I think my favorite little novelty bride gift was a throw pillow that said ‘tonight’ on one side, and ‘not tonight’ on the other. What a crazy present that was, and I know I’ll have a lot of fun using that .
On the other hand, the bride and groom wedding gifts we got the reception were all more serious. We thought we might get some duplicate gifts, and we did, like a few blenders and a couple more toaster ovens than we really need, but that’s to be expected at such a large ceremony. We filled out a bridal registry and we received a food processor and china from that, along with some other things I had written down. My mother- and father-in-law gave us a bar side set and a pool table, and my husband thought it was absolutely wonderful, and has already planned a get together with the guys. The plane tickets to get to the Greek Isles for our honeymoon came from my folks. We received a lot of wonderful gifts on our wedding day from our loving families and fantastic friends.
Having all our friends and family around us on this more than special day meant more to us than anything. We were able to spend our engagement party, wedding, and reception with them, and we are so glad about that. They have always been there for us no matter what, and I’m so glad we have so many wonderful friends and such a devoted family, in our lives. It also helps to have friends that care enough to throw you a wild night with a bachelor party or a mind trippin girls night out bash. Kids need bathtub toys, and Sesame Street’s Ernie even sang a song about one of the classics, a tune called ‘Rubber Duckie You’re the One.’ It seemed like a longshot, but I checked to see if there were any baby shower duck favors available anyway, and I was pleasantly surprised. I put tables that could seat four apiece in my basement rec room since that was plenty big enough for this size crowd. When you looked at it, you just wanted to say, ‘aww, how sweet.’ I also bought duck molds and filled them with yellow colored water for duck shaped ice cubes. I took my duck idea to great extremes.
On the world wide web, I found a bunch of great ideas, and that’s pretty much where I found everything I needed, but I did get a few recommendations from some of the people at my school. I filled a square tub with water and, prior to any guests arriving, I put a bunch of duck bath toys in it. A couple of hours into the shower, I picked a number out of a jar, and the person with that numbered duck received an award. We had a lot of fun with the guess the baby picture game, too. Each guest got a chance to check out the board and see how many pictures they were able to match up with the faces of the other guests. The winner was the person who guessed right on the most of them, and they were awarded a shower favor.
We had a lot of fun, great laughs and the mother to be got some really neat gifts for her little girl. I’m very happy with the amount of help I got from going on the Internet.
